About Ultimate Guide Croatia

We're Irena and Robin, and we run Ultimate Guide Croatia from Zagreb. Our goal is to deliver comprehensive, up-to-date information on traveling in Croatia — first-hand from Croatia.

Why we built this

Croatia is usually introduced through its coastline — the Adriatic Sea, historic stone towns, island sunsets. The coast is breathtaking, and the Dubrovnik-to-Split route has earned its reputation. But the country is much bigger than the postcard.

Beyond the coast there are inland wine regions, medieval hilltop towns, national parks, rivers, baroque cities, plains, and a whole network of quieter islands. Most English-language guides barely cover any of it. We wanted to change that.

We started Ultimate Guide Croatia because we thought Croatia deserved an English-language resource as thorough as the best travel guides we've seen for other countries — one that covers all five regions, not just the famous ten kilometres.

What we believe about travel in Croatia

It’s not about how many places you see. It’s about what you experience.

Rushing through Croatia often means missing the very things that make it special. We believe in slower, better-planned trips — the kind that leave room for long lunches, quiet coves, local stories, scenic detours, and places you’ll actually remember.

The Croatia beyond the coast is worth your time.

Istrian hill towns, Plešivica wine country, Slavonia’s plains, Kvarner’s lesser-known islands — some of the best experiences in the country, and most guides skip them entirely.

Good planning beats big itineraries.

A well-shaped trip in one or two regions usually outperforms a rushed tour of the highlights.

Custom trip planning

Alongside the guide, Irena also offers personalised Croatia itineraries as a paid service — day-by-day planning for travelers who'd rather have their trip built for them. More about that on the Custom Itineraries page.
