Best Beaches in Korčula

Sandy shores, secluded coves, and crystal-clear swimming spots on one of Dalmatia's most beautiful islands

Korčula Beach Guide

Korčula's coastline offers a wonderful variety of beaches — from the rare sandy shores of Lumbarda to dramatic pebble coves tucked beneath pine-covered cliffs on the south coast. The water is exceptionally clear throughout, and many of the best spots remain blissfully uncrowded even in peak summer.

The island's two sandy beaches, Przina and Vela Przina, are located in the wine village of Lumbarda, while the more secluded pebble coves require a short drive or walk through beautiful Mediterranean scenery. Here are the best beaches in and around Korčula.

Where to Swim

Top Beaches

Przina Beach (Lumbarda)

Sandy

Przina is the best sandy beach on the island of Korčula, located in the village of Lumbarda just a short drive from Korčula Town. The fine sand, warm shallow water, and relaxed atmosphere make it a favourite for families and sunbathers. Surrounded by vineyards where the famous Grk grape is grown, Przina perfectly captures the blend of beach life and wine culture that defines Lumbarda.

Location: Lumbarda, 6 km south of Korčula Town

Facilities: Beach bar, sunbeds, showers, parking nearby

Best for: Families, sandy beach lovers, combining with wine tasting

Vela Przina (Lumbarda)

Sandy

The larger of Lumbarda's two sandy beaches, Vela Przina is a beautiful stretch of golden sand with shallow, warm water that is perfect for families with children. The beach faces south, catching the sun all day long, and the gentle slope into the sea means little ones can splash safely. A handful of beach bars and restaurants line the shore.

Location: Lumbarda, south side of the village

Facilities: Beach bars, restaurants, sunbeds, parking

Best for: Families with children, all-day beach visits, shallow swimming

Pupnatska Luka

Pebble

Reached by a winding road through the island's interior, Pupnatska Luka is a secluded pebble cove surrounded by dramatic cliffs and dense pine forest. The effort to get here is rewarded with some of the clearest water on the island and a wild, unspoiled atmosphere that feels miles away from anywhere. A small konoba serves fresh fish and cold drinks right on the beach.

Location: South coast of Korčula, below Pupnat village

Facilities: Konoba restaurant, limited facilities, natural shade

Best for: Adventure seekers, snorkelling, escaping the crowds

Bili Bok

Pebble / Rocky

A hidden gem on the south coast of Korčula, Bili Bok is a small, pristine cove with crystal-clear water that rewards those willing to make the walk to reach it. The rocky coastline and lack of development give it a wonderfully wild character. The water here is exceptionally transparent, making it one of the best snorkelling spots on the island.

Location: South coast of Korčula, near Lumbarda

Facilities: No facilities, bring everything you need

Best for: Adventurous swimmers, snorkelling, solitude seekers

Pavja Luka

Pebble

A peaceful pebble bay on the south coast of Korčula, shaded by pine trees and surrounded by unspoiled nature. Pavja Luka is quieter than the Lumbarda beaches and offers a more secluded, laid-back experience. The pine shade makes it comfortable even in the midday heat, and the calm, clear water is ideal for a long, relaxing swim.

Location: South coast of Korčula

Facilities: Natural shade, limited facilities

Best for: Quiet relaxation, pine-shaded swimming, couples

Practical Info

Beach Tips for Korčula

Sandy Beaches Are in Lumbarda

If you want sand, head to Lumbarda — Przina and Vela Przina are the only proper sandy beaches on the island. They are about 6 km from Korčula Town by car, taxi, or water taxi.

Best Time to Swim

The sea is warmest from June to September (22-26 degrees C). May and October are still pleasant at 18-20 degrees C for those who enjoy cooler water.

Bring Supplies for Remote Beaches

Secluded coves like Bili Bok and Pavja Luka have no facilities. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and a shade option — and take all your rubbish with you.

Combine Beach & Wine

Lumbarda is both a beach destination and a wine village. After a morning at Przina, walk to a nearby winery to taste Grk — the rare white wine grown only here.
