Day Trips from Split
Islands, waterfalls, medieval towns, and wine routes — all within easy reach of Split
The Best Excursions from Split
Split's position as the main ferry hub for central Dalmatia makes it the perfect base for exploring Croatia's most beautiful islands. Hvar, Brac, Vis, and Solta are all reachable within 1-2 hours, while inland attractions like Krka National Park and the medieval town of Trogir are even closer.
All excursions can be done independently using ferries and buses, or through organised tours. For islands, the Jadrolinija and Krilo catamarans are fast and comfortable.

Hvar Island
Lavender, Nightlife & Venetian Heritage
Croatia's most glamorous island combines a stunning Venetian Old Town with lavender fields, hidden coves, and a legendary nightlife scene. Explore the hilltop fortress for panoramic views, take a boat to the Pakleni Islands for swimming, or simply wander the marble streets of Hvar Town.
Highlights

Brac Island & Zlatni Rat
Croatia's Most Famous Beach
Brac is the closest major island to Split, home to the iconic Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) beach — a white pebble spit that shifts shape with the currents. Beyond Bol, explore the charming port of Supetar, the stone-carving village of Pucisca, and the island's rugged interior.
Highlights

Krka National Park
Waterfalls & Swimming Holes
One of Croatia's most spectacular national parks, Krka features a series of cascading waterfalls along the Krka River. The main attraction is Skradinski Buk, a stunning 17-step waterfall with boardwalks winding through the travertine barriers. The park also includes the island monastery of Visovac.
Highlights

Trogir
Medieval Island City (UNESCO)
A perfectly preserved medieval town on a tiny island connected to the mainland by bridges. Trogir's UNESCO-listed Old Town has Romanesque churches, Venetian palaces, and a stunning cathedral with a masterpiece portal by Master Radovan. It is compact enough to explore in a few hours.
Highlights

Vis Island
Croatia's Most Remote Inhabited Island
Once a Yugoslav military base closed to tourists until 1989, Vis remains beautifully unspoiled. Vis Town has an elegant waterfront with excellent restaurants, while Komiza is a charming fishing village. The famous Blue Cave on nearby Bisevo island is a highlight, and the island's wines (Vugava white) are exceptional.
Highlights

Solta Island
Olive Oil, Honey & Tranquillity
The closest island to Split and the least touristy of the central Dalmatian group. Solta is known for its premium olive oil, aromatic honey, and quiet village life. The harbour village of Maslinica has a small luxury hotel and beautiful bay, while Stomorska is a laid-back fisherman's settlement.
